Description

A wine of limited production from an old single vineyard where very low yields are grown. It reflects a much more modern facet of Marques de Murrieta, a rigorous selection of the grapes, meticulous extraction and aging in new French oak barrels for a year and a half give this wine a harmonious and intense character. Dalmau is a limited production wine, full of shades and intensity, which shows the most modern side of our winery. It has a complex and velvety nose, with an explosion of aromas of wild fruits, dark chocolate and mineral notes, elegantly combined with the creamy toasting of its ageing in the new French oak barrels. An elegant and extraordinary wine which impresses in every way, with body and harmony, of magnificent balance which creates a powerful wine.

Own single vineyard: A selection of the best fruit available at selected vintages from our sixty year-old single vineyard called Canajas plot. It is located at 465 meters altitude within our 300 hectare Ygay Estate surrounding our winery in the southern point of Rioja Alta wine area. Special green techniques -crop thinning- are carried out for the pursuit of fresh concentration and complexity.

Grape varieties: 86% Tempranillo, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Graciano.

Manual harvest in boxes: On the 6th of October.

Vinification: Grapes are first carefully de-stemmed and then fermented both in a temperature controlled, stainless steel tank and a wooden vat for 13 days, with daily “remontage” and “delestage” processes, in order to obtain full potential of the perfect condition grapes. While Tempranillo ferments in a stainless steel deposit, Cabernet Sauvignon and Graciano ferment individually in a wooden vat. The grapes are vinified separately to keep their peculiarities intact.

Ageging process: 21 months in 225 liternew French oak barrels and 12 months in bottle before release.

Bottling date: July 2007.

Number of bottles: 23,686 (75 cl.).

Pairing: All red meats, roasts and game. Excellent also with cheeses.

Consimtion Temperature: 16º - 18ºC.

Decanting: We recommend to let it breathe for some minutes before consumption.
